# Reset your SendWhale password using a recovery link

> Recover access to your SendWhale account by requesting a one-time reset link at /forgot-password and setting a new password of at least 12 characters.

If you've forgotten your password, SendWhale can send a one-time recovery link to your registered email address. Follow the steps below to regain access and set a new password. The entire process takes only a few minutes, provided you still have access to the email address on your account.

<Warning>
  Never share your password or your password reset link with anyone — including SendWhale support staff. Support will never ask for your password or request that you forward a recovery email. If you receive an unsolicited message asking for these details, treat it as a phishing attempt.
</Warning>

## Request a recovery link

<Steps>
  <Step title="Go to the forgot-password page">
    Navigate to [gosendwhale.com/forgot-password](https://www.gosendwhale.com/forgot-password).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter your email address">
    Type the email address associated with your SendWhale account and click **Send recovery link**.

    SendWhale sends a one-time, expiring recovery link to that address. For security, the page shows a confirmation message regardless of whether the address is registered — this prevents account enumeration.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Check your inbox">
    Open the recovery email from SendWhale. If it doesn't appear within a few minutes, check your spam or junk folder.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Click the recovery link">
    Click the link in the email. You're taken to [/reset-password](https://www.gosendwhale.com/reset-password) with the link's token applied automatically.

    <Warning>
      Recovery links are **single-use and expire**. Do not share the link or open it in a different browser session than the one you intend to use. If your link has expired or has already been used, return to [/forgot-password](https://www.gosendwhale.com/forgot-password) and request a fresh one.
    </Warning>
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set your new password">
    On the reset page, enter a **new password** (minimum **12 characters**) and type it again in the **Confirm password** field to ensure they match. Click **Reset password**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Sign in with your new password">
    After a successful reset, go to [/login](https://www.gosendwhale.com/login) and sign in with your updated credentials.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Troubleshooting

<Accordion title="The recovery link says 'invalid' or 'already used'">
  Recovery links are single-use. If the link was already clicked — even by an email pre-fetching service — it is consumed. Return to [/forgot-password](https://www.gosendwhale.com/forgot-password) and request a new link, then open it promptly.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="My recovery link expired before I used it">
  Recovery links expire after a short window for security reasons. Go back to [/forgot-password](https://www.gosendwhale.com/forgot-password) and request a new one. Open and use the fresh link as soon as it arrives.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="I'm not receiving the recovery email">
  Check your spam, junk, and promotions folders. Add `support@gosendwhale.com` to your contacts to help future emails reach your inbox. If the email still doesn't arrive after a few minutes, wait briefly before requesting again — repeated rapid requests may be rate-limited.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="I no longer have access to my registered email address">
  If you can no longer receive email at the address on your account, password self-service won't work. Contact [support@gosendwhale.com](mailto:support@gosendwhale.com) and describe your situation. Be prepared to verify your identity. You can also visit [/support](https://www.gosendwhale.com/support) to open a ticket.
</Accordion>
