Signup forms give visitors a simple way to subscribe to your email list directly from your website or a shared link. Each form connects to a specific audience in your workspace, so new subscribers land exactly where you want them.
You are responsible for including appropriate consent language on your forms. Missing or misleading consent language may violate email marketing laws in your jurisdiction. Consult legal counsel if you are unsure what your jurisdiction requires.

Creating a form

Open Forms in your workspace sidebar and click New Form. This opens the form editor where you configure fields, messaging, and audience assignment.

Fields

Every form requires an email address field — this cannot be removed. You can optionally add:
  • A name field (first name, last name, or full name)
  • Custom fields that map to contact properties in your workspace
Keep forms short. Asking for only what you need reduces friction and increases conversion. Include clear opt-in language that tells subscribers exactly what they are signing up for, and add a link to your Privacy Policy. Place consent language close to the submit button so it is visible before submission.

Assigning the form to an audience

Select the audience new subscribers will join when they complete the form. Each form is assigned to exactly one audience. If you want subscribers to enter multiple audiences, use automations or tags after initial enrollment.

Sharing and embedding the form

Once you save the form, SendWhale generates a unique public URL at /form/:publicId. Use this URL to:
  • Share directly — paste the link in social media posts, emails, or your bio
  • Embed on your website — copy the provided embed code and paste it into your site’s HTML where you want the form to appear

Configuring failure messages

Set a custom error message to display when a form submission fails (for example, due to a network error or validation issue). A clear message helps visitors understand what went wrong and encourages them to try again.
